Joined Hospital fire: HC requests test reports from Rajuk, fire administration

The High Court today looked for discrete test reports - from four specialists concerned - on the savage fire at the crown segregation unit in United Hospital that killed five patients on May 27.

The specialists of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk), Fire Service and Civil Defense, Criminal Investigation Department of Police and United Hospital specialists were requested to present their separate test reports to the court by June 14.

The court said it might consider to pass request for remuneration to the casualties' families in the event that they move any appeal.

The HC seat of Justice M Enayetur Rahim thought of the request following a writ appeal documented by Supreme Court legal counselor Mohammad Mahbub looking for essential requests.

Agent Attorney General Amit Talukder revealed to The Daily Star that the High Court requested Rajuk to see if the arrangements of Bangladesh National Building Code were appropriately trailed by the United Hospital.

As indicated by the request, the Fire Service and Civil Defense should make reference to in its report whether there is any carelessness with respect to the emergency clinic specialists in regards to the occurrence.

The CID will clarify in its report who are answerable for the fire and passings of patients, he stated, including that the workplace of Inspector General of Police will present the CID's test report.

The United Hospital specialists have been approached to state in its report about their discoveries, DAG Amit Talukder included.

The HC seat thought of the request while holding a virtual hearing on the writ appeal through video meeting.

Backer Mohammad Mahbub presented the writ appeal as an open intrigue suit to the High Court on Sunday looking for it's mandates on the specialists worried to give Tk 5 crore to every casualty's family, and to make fundamental move against the people answerable for the episode.

In the appeal, the legal counselor incorporated the reports distributed in The Daily Star and the Prothom Alo, saying that there were carelessness on part of the specialists worried in protecting the people in question.
